GROUPS
SOFFA
A group for the significant others, family, friends, and active allies of trans, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming loved ones.
In-Person
First weekend each month
It's often said that when a loved one transitions, everyone around them transitions too. PFLAG Denver's SOFFA group acknowledges that sometimes those closest to a transgender, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming person may need assistance to better provide support. Regardless of where you are on your allyship journey, our peer-led groups provide brave space for you to adapt and develop expanded capacities of empathy and understanding. Through each other's stories, we gain perspective, we hold accountability, and we celebrate joys. We learn coping strategies that can foster personal growth and resilience so that we may better support our loved ones. The collective insights and shared strength found in SOFFA can help individuals navigate their difficulties with increased emotional support and a sense of community, ultimately contributing to their overall well-being and healing journey.
"When my child transitioned, I knew I needed to support them but I didn't know what that should look like. PFLAG Denver's SOFFA group absorbed the burden of my uninformed questions when it otherwise would have been shouldered by my child. I learned, I grew, and I fast-tracked my Allyship. At the start, I thought this work was a gift to my child. But my journey has taught me that my work was also a gift to myself. I can't imagine not knowing my child in their fullest sense of self."

SUPPORT
A group for Significant Others & their LGBTQIA Partners.
In-Person
Third weekend each month
SOS is a welcoming and affirming in-person support group created for individuals navigating the unique journey of having a partner, spouse, significant other, or co-parent who identifies as trans, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, or who has recently come out as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. This group centers the lived experiences of those who may be exploring questions, challenges, and joys as they support their loved ones and adapt to changes in their relationships and identities.
Together, we create a safe, nonjudgmental space for open dialogue, mutual understanding, and sharing resources, whether you’re learning new ways to express love and care, addressing complex emotions, or simply seeking a supportive community of peers.
